The Project
Miriam’s Hope mission is to confront the foster care crises. The objective for this project is twofold:
- To work with families to build on principles that lead to a personal realization of their strengths and purpose.
- To ensure the preservation of the family as a foundational approach to being part of the solution for the foster care epidemic.
Why `do we care?
- 80% of the prison population is a former foster youth.
- 90% of death row inmates in California and Texas are former foster youth.
- Children are six times more likely to be physically and sexually abused in foster care than at home with bio parents.

Opportunities
Miriam’s Hope is currently working on a major overhaul of a former group home site. Our goal is to send valuable resources and teams to support the organization. There are endless opportunities to serve and make a real impact. Such possibilities include:
- Construction projects related to remodel and restore an abandoned group home site to proper function.
- Assistance in setting up a model ranch.
History
Miriam’s Hope was officially launched in 2016 but birthed many years prior to do something about the foster care system. It started as just a vision in the hearts of Luke and Corina Kliewer. Working in foster care for 8 years and witnessing the trauma inflicted upon the youth and the biological parents, they were adamant that something needed to be done. Luke and Corina began thinking about a property located near their home. The building was an old classroom building for a church that was left vacant for most of the year. Four years after the initial vision they signed a lease to occupy the property for a term of 5 years. Work started in August and, by January of the following year (2017), they welcomed their first family.
The family moved to Oberlin Kansas in July of 2020. Corina is a Registered Dental Hygienist and fills in at various dental offices when she can. Luke is currently overseeing the expansion of Miriam’s Hope in Kansas and busy speaking about the project.
